Ocean Dialogue for Adults and Children Implementation Report
From December 19 to 21, 2025, the “Ocean Dialogue for Adults and Children” was held in Kirishima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. Under the theme of “Creating a Rich Ocean to Respond to the Changing Seas Due to Climate Change,” approximately 150 participants gathered from within and outside Kagoshima Prefecture. These included experts, local governments, national agencies, companies, NPOs, fishermen, and parents with children of child-rearing age.
This event marked the launch of the “Children's Sea Stewards” initiative. Hosted by the Kinko Fisheries Cooperative, it will involve local fishermen working with children in the community on programs covering marine environmental conservation, resource management and enhancement, and product development. The cooperative also plans to propose new approaches to marine area management.
